The Piano in Slo-Mo

We'll look at high speed videos of piano parts in motion, including strings, whippens, hammers, and keys, shot at up to 10,000 frames per second.  We'll also do some analysis to better understand what is in the videos.  Both grands and uprights will be covered.

After a long career as an engineer and software developer, Scott began studying piano technology in 2015 and became a full time piano tech in 2019.  He works at the Juilliard School in New York City.

6:30pm-8:00pm: Technical Presentation

Timing is approximate. We’ll start the Zoom call about 15 minutes early for socializing. Presentation expected to be about an hour, but may go on longer for those interested in sticking around.
